Additional trail guides
Mendenhall Glacier by bus and boot leather
Independent travelers often ask how to get to Mendenhall Glacier. One affordable option is the city bus system. This B&W 4-fold brochure explains how, and introduces the rich natural and cultural history of the glacial forelands. (Even residents might learn a thing or 2!)
Student guide to Marriott Trail
In 2004, with Kristen Romanoff of ADF&G, Discovery coached a student writing-&-art team that created a professional-quality interpretive brochure for the Richard Marriott forest succession trail.
Common tracks of Southeast Alaska
Forgot to pack the booklet? No problem; it’s on your phone!
In 2013, we published a pocket guide with tracking tips for common mammals and birds of Southeast. Copies are available in local bookstores, or can be ordered from Katrina Pearson at Taku Graphics, 907-780-6310.
Because this guide was designed for small page size, it also works well as a smart phone pdf. You can download a free copy here (2.3 megs):
Common seashore animals of southeastern Alaska
by Aaron Baldwin
Ecologist Aaron Baldwin has prepared a wonderful, full-color, 170-page guide to invertebrates and selected fishes of our region, and has graciously permitted us to offer it for download. Aaron says this is a work in progress, but as he updates the field guide, we will continue to host it at this address.
